چکیده

During conversations, speakers are assumed to provide information about their emotional state. This study is a systematic investigation of the voice characteristics of the emotion of anxiety. For this purpose speech samples of 63 subjects were collected in a situation which induced mild anxiety. On the basis of the acoustic measurements it appears that anxiety affects vocal parameters and showed a significant increase in mean F0 and in noise-to-harmonic ratio. In addition, a significant decrease in jitter and F0 range are observed, while there was no change in shimmer. These results applied equally to male and female participants.

Vocal expression in spontaneous and experimentally induced affective speech: Acoustic correlates of anxiety, irritation and resignation

We present two studies on authentic vocal affect expressions. In Study 1, the speech of social phobics was recorded in an anxiogenic public speaking task both before and after treatment. In Study 2, the speech material was collected from real life human-computer interactions. All speech samples were acoustically analyzed and subjected to listening tests. Results from Study 1 showed that a decre...

An Acoustic Study of Emotivity-Prosody Interface in Persian Speech Using the Tilt Model

This paper aims to explore some acoustic properties (i.e. duration and pitch amplitude of speech) associated with three different emotions: anger, sadness and joy against neutrality as a reference point, all being intentionally expressed by six Persian speakers. The primary purpose of this study is to find out if there is any correspondence between the given emotions and prosody patterning in P...
